About This Workshop

This workshop covers the basics of hand embroidery, including some foundational stitches, while making a custom journal cover, all by hand. An A5 journal is included with your class fee, as well as all materials to create the cover.

What You'll Do & Take Home

Participants will learn the basics of embroidery, including best practices and tips and tricks from an obsessed stitcher. Everyone will have the opportunity to design a custom journal cover using stick-and-stitch designs, and we'll cover how to get started along with a smattering of basic stitches. Each participant will go home with a started custom journal cover, instructions on how to finish it either by hand or machine, embroidery needles, a hoop, and enough thread to finish their piece — plus a simple A5 journal that fits wonderfully inside their new creation.

I'm a craftasaurus rex who loves teaching others! I teach craft classes around Portland (and beyond) that range from weaving to embroidery to basket making to sewing. I love introducing people to a new craft. I am also a big journaler and sketchbooker, and have had dalliances with pen and paper collecting.
