Single Pamphlet Books with Hand-Printed Covers

Handmade pamphlet books and materials laid out with hand-carved stamps by Sara White
Sunday, November 8 3:00 – 5:30 PM 10 seats Beginner, Intermediate

About This Workshop

Students will learn to sew a 3-hole and 5-hole single pamphlet book. Students will have the option to carve a simple stamp with provided carving materials, or use ready-made stamps, to create beautiful quilt-like patterns or layered imagery on the covers of their books.

What You'll Do & Take Home

Students will learn basic bookbinding terminology and material considerations for making their own books, starting with folding and sewing the text blocks. Each student receives a handout with instructions and enough material to make and take home 2 single pamphlet books. The last half hour to hour of class is used for carving a simple shape using provided stamp materials and lino-cutting tools (or using stamps on hand), then printing simple patterns onto the book covers before taking them home.
